This design was created using the Cyanotype alternative photographic process, also known as a 'Sun Print'. The image was a photograph of an Azalea blossom that I made a ‘negative’ of and printed on acetate. I then coated the paper with a special emulsion and let it dry. I then placed the acetate on the paper, but not before I squirted some water on it, and set it out in the sun. It only took about 10 or 15 minutes to make the impression, but the sprayed water reacted with the emulsion a created a really pretty effect with the lighter blue areas. I love Cyanotypes and hope to do more soon!
