Amorphous is a pair from a series of works that were created using fabric dye on handmade paper. I love experimenting with unconventional materials, and this was a fun series to develop. Thin, dark, curving lines add dynamic movement via my mark-making and reflect a certain amount of spontaneity. The dye would react differently depending on the color and consistency of the dye.
The pair, Amorphous I & II, won an Editor’s Pick award in a Pairs & Sets challenge on Minted.com in 2024. They have been custom-framed by Gravitas Gallery in Richmond, VA, in real wood frames and are floated on a textured acid-free mat board in a charcoal gray to accentuate the hand-torn edges of the paper.
